Understanding Nursing Care
When you choose residential nursing care at Kimbolton Lodge you can be assured that you will be safe in the knowledge that our skilled nurses have more time to care. They are experienced in caring for older people with complex health conditions.
Our excellent staffing levels ensure that we are able to meet your needs at all times. .
We have a very stable workforce, many of our staff have been with us for many years, we are fully recruited and will not use agency staff unless absolutely necessary.
Our fully qualified nursing staff are on duty 24 hours per day and support with a range of medical conditions including:
- catheter care
- PEG feeding
- long term health conditions
- neurological conditions
- wound care
- pressure care
- pain management
Prior to admission, the nurses will liaise with your referring body, usually the hospital, to gain sufficient information relating to your required needs in order to complete an initial care plan. This will address all aspects of your medical, physical, social and emotional condition and will inform the shape of the care to be delivered by all staff.
This will be reviewed with you within the first week of your stay to ensure the level of care has been pitched correctly and it will be adjusted if necessary. Care plan reviews will take place monthly, or sooner if required and you and your family will be involved if you wish.
You will be allocated a key worker whose role is to meet with you regularly to ensure that everything is going well and you are happy with the service you are getting. They will act on any concerns or issues you may have and liaise with the team members on your behalf. They will also be available to your family to discuss any issues you or they may have.
Throughout your stay, the nursing staff will monitor your health, liaise with external services, GPs and Specialists when necessary and provide ongoing assessments to ensure your needs are addressed.
RENJITH RADHAKRISHNAN
Our Nursing Unit Manager
I am the Nursing Unit Manager at Kimbolton Lodge where I have been working for eight years. I have always wanted to serve humanity in some way and I was always fascinated by the healthcare sector as a child.
One of my favourite aspects of being a nurse is that I am constantly surrounded by individuals who require my assistance and I am grateful and honoured to be able to help those in need. During my career I have spent a great deal of time working with patients and their families helping them with their healthcare decisions.
As a lead nurse, I feel privileged to be working alongside a wonderful team supporting our residents and their families and providing them with the best possible care.
KIMBOLTON Lodge
Medical Care
The majority of our residents are registered with the local GP surgery and the Critical Care Team are in daily contact with us to identify any requirements. Local residents may opt to stay with their own GP.
We have regular visits from an Optician and Chiropodist and can access community Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Dentists as required.
We are pleased to escort our residents to dental and hospital appointments if relatives are unable to do so ( this will incur a small charge).
